Richard Samaniego, RN
Director of Nursing

Hi, Im Richard. I graduated from Gordon Technical Catholic High School in Chicago in 1997. I wanted to be a physician and decided to take up nursing as my pre-med. When I graduated with my nursing degree in 2001 I found nursing to be very rewarding and no longer had any interest in pursuing medicine. My first job as a nurse was at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on the Medical Surgical floor which allowed me to manage patients with different kinds of problems.

In 2002 I became a traveling nurse on an ortho/neuro floor at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. In 2004 I was offered a position as the assistant director of nursing at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Saginaw, Michigan. In 2005 I began my career in home healthcare for the Visiting Nurse Association in Saginaw. I found that treating patients in their home was very rewarding. Being a visiting nurse is the best job I have ever had. I enjoy going to patients' homes because of the one on one care, personalization, and intimacy I can provide to them.

Kathy Samaniego, PT
Administrator

Hi, Im Kathy. I received my BS in Physical Therapy. I am a board certified Physical Therapist since 2000. I started my career as at Convenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan as a staff Physical Therapist. I worked in the Orthopaedic department. My career specialty is orthopaedic home healthcare having worked for the VA hospital and Advocate Home Helathcare. I have been the Adminsitrator for Symmetrix since 2008.

As a Physical Therapist, I have extensive experience in managing patients with Neurological and Orthopaedic problems. I am results driven and I make sure that my staff and I provide the best care to our patients to help them to reach their highest potential. I truly enjoy working with patients and a personalizing my approach to their care. I find being able to use my expertise in their best interest is truly rewarding.

Maria Ramos
CFO

Hi, Im Maria. I am the Chief Financial Officer for Symmetrix. I have an Accounting degree from DePaul University, and this has been complimented by my progressive experience working for various multinational corporations like GE Capital and Kraft Foods. I also set the structure for the financing, forecasting and budgeting of a local architectural firm, REM Architecture. My 16 year background in finance and accounting has been essential in laying the framework for Symmetrix fiscal operations in order to put them in a position of financial strength.

I accepted the position with the personal goal of driving uncompromising quality and accuracy in overseeing their financial practices, accounting methods and looking for the highest quality, most experienced staff as a further way to ensure our company brings the finest available healthcare to our clients. I truly value spending time with my family, especially watching great movies and trying new restaurants with my husband.

Michelle Schmidt, RN
Nursing Supervisor

Hi, Im Michelle. I have been the Nursing Supervisor for Symmetrix Home HealthCare since 2011. I was born and raised in Park Ridge. I graduated from Maine South High School. I started in the medical field working as a CNA for physician practice. I began my RN career at a skilled nursing facility in Northbrook. This position allowed me to garner great experience with a wide variety of patients, protocols and therapies and allowed me to develop a true understanding of patient needs as well as the spiritual requirements of elderly patients.

Taking this education and experience to patients homes has been a truly wonderful experience. Providing the one on one collaborative care and patient education that allows patients to remain in the comfort of their home has been very rewarding. Helping to shape the care philosophy for Symmetrix Home HealthCare as the Nursing Supervisor has turned my work from a career to a mission. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and working out.

Jennifer Pickering, RN
Case Manager

Hi, Im Jennifer. I was born and raised in Chicago. I realized that through all of my life, whatever my career at the time, my interest in science and medicine never faded. I decided to combine that interest with my affinity for people by pursuing nursing. I went to Truman College in Chicago and graduated in 2008. My first nursing job was at Evanston Hospital in the post-surgical unit. It was busy and very challenging. I learned a lot, but realized that was not the ideal environment for me. A friend suggested that I try home nursing.

I started at Symmetrix in late 2009 and quickly realized that home nursing suits me perfectly. I enjoy seeing patients individually, taking time to treat them individually and without interruptions. Often patients come home from an inpatient stay with questions they did not have answered (or did not think to ask). I try to be as helpful as possible and clarify anything they do not understand so they can relax and focus on healing. I also feel that home nursing allows me to get a better understanding of the patients daily life. This allows me to work out a plan of care that fits the patients lifestyle. In my spare time I enjoy seeing friends, camping and canoeing, reading, sewing, crossword puzzles and football!
